Cosmic Circle

Though I did not clearly understand my interest at the time, it is clear to me now that my fascination with the weather that later led me to study atmospheric science was fed in part by my utter amazement at the panoply of colours and cloud formations I could witness in the skies over the state of Texas where I grew up.  The rumble of summer thunderstorms, the delicacy of early morning winter frost, the sound of rain falling and many other aspects of the phenomena of weather intrigued me. The most memorable weather event of my childhood occurred in December, 1983.  An intense and protracted cold spell the second half of the month caused our backyard swimming pool to freeze.  I was able to walk on the surface of the water that only months before I had been swimming in!

During my time as a student of Naropa University my creativity began to reawaken.  I will always be grateful for the tremendous artistic growth I was able to begin during that time of my life.

I eventually became interested in the cosmology traditional cultures have concerning water.  While visiting Dr. Colorado during one of our student intensives in Maui, she gave me an offering of water taken from the Well of Brigid in Ireland.  In that moment I had an amazing mystical experience.  I felt I was given a mission by the very waters of planet Earth to render their beauty in art.  In doing so I give my voice to efforts to preserve and responsibly use this extremely precious resource.

I offer a service of creating personalized paintings for individuals who desire to add some color and energy to their home or work space environment.  If you or a friend would like such a colorful addition, feel free to speak to me!  I create paintings for wedding gifts, birthdays, Christmas and other special occasions.  A commission I completed in 2007 appears at the very bottom of the imagery on this page.  My piece is the oceanscape on the right side of the picture.
